Key Aspects

The award winning Aspects of Kings Park is a gallery and bookshop specifically designed to showcase the best Western Australian artists and craftsmen works to the visitors of Kings Park.

Located within a specific and restricted footprint and also the natural bushland landscape it was designed to minimise its impact, maximise its visual connectivity (inside to outside) and reflecting materiality that is an exemplar of contemporary Australian regional architecture.

The building is designed to lightly as possible within the surrounding landscape, it uses simple materials of stone, glass and steel. The large glazed areas connect outside to the inside inviting the viewer to visit and explore the artworks inside. The interior was designed to maximise the potential viewing of products on display with lighting designed to highlight them but as discretely as possible. The curatorial spaces to the back of house areas are all climate and security access controlled.

The winner of design awards, ‘Aspects’ of Kings Park incorporates the best of Western Australian and Australian architectural solutions within an environmental setting utilising uniquely Western Australian products in the building fabric.
